Sew A Softie?

Ever since I saw the call for "Softies for Mirabel" at Meet Me At Mikes I've been wanting to put together a little softie to send to Pip for the Mirabel Foundation. It took forever to find a softie...because:
1) I'm a beginner...
2) I'm a beginner...oh, and
3) I'm a beginner.

Did I mention that I'm a beginner? That means that I have a very basic understanding of my sewing machine and how to hold a needle and thread.

So when I finally saw this Monster Ninni Tutorial, I thought, yeah...I could do that. Plus after doing a spring clean of my wardrobe to store for after I lose weight re-purpose, I found a denim skirt that I thought would make the perfect monster!

I have pictures of how it got done but the tutorial tells the story so much better! After days of planning and deliberation and sitting with the sewing machine, thread and needle, the softie got finished yesterday!!!

Fellow sew-ist and craft enthusiasts, drum roll please...I present Eek! (Hubby named him, I have no claim on that!).

Here's Eek showing an interest in sewing...

Eek likes playing ball too!

Whaddya know, he's taken an interest in books!

This is Eek planking with my phone...

Little did I know that the craze is global! Check out the other cuties here!
